WELCOME TO ELWOOD, INDIANA I am a high school student at Elwood Communtiy High School. I am creating this Page so people will be aware of some of the good things about our city. Elwood is a small rural city where farming is the main occupation. Corn, soybeans, wheat and tomatoes are our main crops. RED GOLD, INC. is located only 5 miles away from Elwood and is the midwest's largest producer of Indiana home grown tomatoes!! Elwood is a moving city with a new YMCA facilty. A state of the art library is being built as I write this Page. It is approximately an hours drive to Indianapolis, our state capitol. There are several other major cities within a 30 mile radius, Muncie and Anderson being some of the few. Elwood is in the county of Madison. Being only 30 miles from Anderson, the county seat, it is an ideal place to live. Elwood is the home of Wendell L. Wilkie, former presidential candidate. Elwood is the home of the Elwood Panthers, an awesome basketball and football team!! There are many Victorian homes that are along our tree lined streets. We have many antique shops that are available to browse in. Elwood is a friendly community with a hospital, several churches, schools, restaurants and shops to frequent.
